Oneofthecharacteristicsofthedifferentiatedlearningenvironmentsisthattheyare“choiceacceleratedspaces”.Whatisunderscoredbythisnamingisthattime,space,andbodieshavetobegovernedinotherwaysinnewschoolarchitecture.Pupils(atleastforpartoftheschool-day)aresupposedtochooselearningspacesontheirownandletthesespacesenabletheirlearning,theymustdecidewhichotherpupilstheywillsitwith,andtheymustmanagetheirtimesothattheydotheirwork‘intime’-withoutthegazeoftheteachertellingthepupilto“keepworking”.Asaneffect,theroleoftheteacherchangesconcordantly:classroommanagementmustberethoughtwhentheanizingunitisnot‘theclassroom’,andtherelationsbetweenteacherandpupilsalter,whentheteacherbeessomeversionofa‘visitor’inthepupilsdifferentiatedlearningenvironment.Inotherwords,theobviousnessofschoollife(‘traditionalschoollife’)ischallengedinthechoiceaccelerateddifferentiatedlearningenvironment.Itisimportanttorealizethatwhenthearchitecturechanges,thedidacticshavetobedeveloped/innovatedaswell:Theteachershavetoaddanawarenessofhowthespaceanddesignco-shapethelearningandteachingpractices,andtheyhavetoworkstrategicallyinorderforthebestresultstotakeshape.Andthemanagingofthisschoolanizationmustundergochangesaswell.Thespecificitiesofthearchitectureandinteriordesignhasanimportantroletoplayinshapingthetacitwaysthatwerelatetoeachotherintheeveryday,andhowweconceiveourselvesaslearningsubjects,classmatesandteachers.Thelandscapeoflearningplaysamorediverse,plexandimportantrolewhenthetraditionalclassroomissupplementedbyadifferentiatedlandscape:notalldifferentiationsworkequallywellandeachhindersomethingandpromoteotherthings.Aheightenedsensitivityasarchitectintryingtounderstandthetacitprocessesoftheinterplaysbetweenhumansandeducationalarchitectureiscalledfor.
