Abstract:Anovelmethodwithgeneraltensorrepresentationforfacerecognitionbasedonmultilinearnonparametricdiscriminantanalysisisproposed.TraditionalLDA-basedmethodssuffersomedisadvantagessuchassmallsamplesizeproblem(SSS),curseofdimensionality,aswellasafundamentallimitationresultingfromtheparametricnatureofscattermatrices,whicharebasedontheGaussiandistributionassumption.Inaddition,traditionalLDA-basedmethodsandtheirvariantsdon'tconsidertheclassboundaryofsamplesandinteriorstructureofeachsampleclass.Toaddresstheproblems,anewmultilinearnonparametricdiscriminantanalysisisproposed,andnewformulationsofscattermatricesaregiven.Experimentalresultsindicatetherobustnessandaccuracyoftheproposedmethod.Springer-Verlag2016.
