Asadevotedpioneerandadvocatoroffeminism,Carterrealizesthatthosefemalearchetypesareusuallystereotypedanddogmatic,whichisactuallyinventedbypatriarchyfortheoppressionandexploitationofwomen.

Basedonintensivereadingandexhaustivetextualanalysis,thisthesisillustratesCarter'sdemythologizingofthreefemalearchetypesinThePassionofNewEve,whichare“Temptress,,,”MotherGoddesses“and”Eve“respectively.Firstly,thesufferingsthatLeilahencounterinthenovelrevealthat”Temptresses“areinfactvictimsofpatriarchyinsteadoforiginsofdisloyaltyanddisasters.Whileseenbymenasobjectsoftheirsexualdesires,theyalsoriskself-objectification,whichresultsinthedeprivationofsubjectivityasindependenthumanbeings.Secondly,”Mother“inBeulahisjustanartificialmyth,汪consolatorytoolfabricatedbypatriarchy,behindtheglorificationofwhicharepatriarchalvaluesandcodes.

Thirdly,thetransformativejourneyEveexperiencedfromachauvinisttoarealwomandemonstratesthatfemininity,ratherthananinherentquality,istheresultofsocialinfluenceandpersistentimitations.
